Chapter Four

In the Mess hall the lights were dim, giving Chakotay an uneasy feeling. Even more unsettling was the fact Seven was not acting like her usual self. Her form of dress was even more sensual than usual and she was throwing herself at every male who crossed her path.

“Remember what I said about Klingon breaking Borg nose?” B’Elanna growled.

“No need for threats, I was just conversing with Tom,” Seven told B’Elanna as she ran her hand suggestively across Tom’s freshly shaven face.

“Yeah, more like throwing yourself at him!”

The doors slid open and shut again and Seven suddenly looked up to see who entered the mess hall. “On second thought, there’s someone I need to speak with.”

“I must be a rock!” Tom exclaimed as he watched Seven saunter off in another direction.

“Tom, shut up!”

Once Seven approached her next victim, she wrapped her arm around him and taunted him.

“Unbelievable!” B’Elanna’s chin dropped in shock. “And the captain is right beside him!”

“Commander, how would you like to join me?” Seven asked. “We could have more fun than you ever dreamed.”

“Seven,” Janeway growled uncharacteristically. “Back off, because I don’t share!”

‘If I didn’t know better, I’d swear Seven just hissed at the captain. This is definitely unusual behaviour for the crew,’ Chakotay noted. ‘I’m beginning to wonder if I’m the only one not acting strangely. Then again, I might be.’

“Commander, maybe breakfast in my quarters would be better,” Kathryn suggested.

‘Now this is really unusual. Kathryn would never say that in front of the crew.’

“Um, suddenly I’m not feeling well,” Chakotay told Kathryn. “I think I need to see the doctor.”

“Are you sure?”  Kathryn asked caressing his chest. “Maybe we need a little time to ourselves.”

Chakotay gently removed Kathryn’s hand from his chest. “No, I really think I should see the doctor, I’m really not feeling well.”

“Alright,” Kathryn stared at him questioningly. “Come to my Ready Room later.”

“Um, yes, I’ll do that.”

Chakotay hurried out of the mess hall and raced down the corridor to Sickbay. ‘What just happened in there?’

Chakotay hardly waited for the doors to open before running into Sickbay, “Doctor, there is something very wrong on this ship!”

“I know,” the doctor replied as he gestured toward his microscope. “Take a look at this.”

Chakotay saw some unusual black dots, which looked like gnats, floating around the slide he was observing, “What’s that?”

“A sample of Seven’s blood.”

“Seven’s?”

“Yes, I managed to get a sample of her blood after she was attacked by something or someone.”

“Is that why she is acting so unusual this morning?”

“Most likely,” the doctor nodded. “I didn’t want her to leave Sickbay, but I couldn’t stop her either. It’s a virus, and for some reason, sexual prowess and aggression increase and one’s mental state also changes.”

“Do you know the source?”

“Every person, whose behaviour has changed, has been bitten. That is, if they live through it.”

“Do you know if the captain has been bitten?”

“No, why?”

“She is acting very strangely.”

“I’ll try and check into it, but you know the captain, she wouldn’t see me unless she was unconscious.”

“True, there has to be another way to find out.”

“We need to find out who or what is biting them,” the doctor stated. “Then figure out how they are infecting the crew.”

Chakotay nodded, “Maybe more than one person by now.”

“Do you still think my program is malfunctioning?”

“Doctor, I don’t know anything right now,” Chakotay insisted. “I’m not even sure if my behaviour isn’t a bit odd.”

“I assure you, Commander, you’re fine. I see no trace of the virus in your system, nor do I think you are acting unusual.”

Chapter Five

“Chakotay, I think you’ve lost your mind, too!” Tom exclaimed from the conn. “It’s probably some sort of space lag or something.”

“I don’t think the commander has lost his mind, nor do I believe he and the doctor are being completely logical, either,” Tuvok added after he overheard the conversation from his station. “What is not logical are the lights lowered in various areas of the ship so as to represent evening or night.”

“I’m still trying to figure that one out myself, Tuvok,” Chakotay commented. “And I can’t override the computer to brighten them.”

*Torres to Paris*

Paris looked puzzled. He could not remember when his wife had called him while she was on duty.

“I wonder what she wants now.” Then Paris tapped his comm badge. “Paris here.”

*Tom, could I see you in our quarters?*

Tom was confused as he glanced towards Chakotay.

Chakotay gave a hesitant nod.

“I’m on my way.”

*Good!* B’Elanna purred. *I have something to show you that you may find very interesting. Torres out.*

“Commander, I think there is something very wrong with my wife.”

“Be careful, Tom,” Chakotay replied cautiously. “We don’t know what is going on with the crew and if she is infected…”

“Say no more. I’ll do my best to get her to Sickbay.”

“If you’re able to,” Chakotay added.

He was also getting an uneasy feeling now, which was very noticeable to Tuvok and Chakotay. Tom departed from the Bridge and headed for his quarters.

“Where is everyone? They are all late reporting for duty,” Tuvok noted.

“I don’t know, but I have an idea,” Chakotay replied. “I’m going to check on the captain. She wanted to see me in her ready room when I spoke to her last.”

“She’s spent most of the morning in there,” Tuvok mentioned. “I am also concerned for her.”

“You, Tuvok? I never knew a Vulcan would admit to an emotion.”

“With the captain’s unusual behaviour, it would be illogical not to be concerned.”

“I agree,” Chakotay replied as he headed for Janeway’s ready room.

“Come in!” Kathryn purred when she heard the door chime.

Chakotay entered the dimly lit room and Kathryn stealthily walked over to him. “I’m glad to see you, Chakotay. I need your help with something.”

“Captain?”

Kathryn was now out of uniform and dressed in a very revealing outfit, which Chakotay mentally added to his list of the strange behaviour she was displaying.

She wrapped her arms around him, “I need you.”

Now, Chakotay was sure there was something wrong with Kathryn. “I think you need to go to Sickbay.”

“I’m fine,” she insisted and then kissed him seductively. “I just need you.”

She moved toward his neck with her kisses, but even though the feeling was erotic, Chakotay pushed her away. It was then he noticed something on her neck and reached to touch the red mark, but she shoved him back.

“What’s that on your neck?”

“It’s nothing, I assure you,” she insisted as she covered the mark with her hand.

“The doctor should look at it.”

It was then she seemed to turn on him. Her attempt at seduction became more aggressive.

“I don’t need the doctor, but I do need you!” She growled as she threw herself at him and grabbed him roughly as her canines protruded.

It took all of Chakotay’s strength to push her away. His heart began to race with fear but he was not about to let himself succumb to it. Instead, he quickly dodged her.

“Don’t do this to me, Chakotay!” She cried. “I need you more than I’ve ever needed you before!”

“Kathryn, let’s get you to Sickbay.”

“No!”

Chakotay practically fell out of her Ready Room doors as he tried to avoid her next attack. Kathryn recoiled from the lights of the Bridge when the doors opened, allowing Chakotay to exit dramatically. As the door swished shut he yelled, “The captain has been infected!”

Chapter Six

Meanwhile, in their darkened quarters, Tom’s wife was seducing him. Her Klingon sexuality was in full force, but Tom was not frightened. In fact, he was enjoying every moment of her attention.

“Oh, Tom,” she hissed into his ear, just before her teeth grew and bit into his neck.

Tom found it strangely sensual as he gasped and then relaxed into her arms. Her warm moist tongue began to tease his neck and his excitement grew. His resistance evaporated even though he knew he was supposed to be back on the Bridge.

“Oh, B’Elanna!” He groaned.

B’Elanna ripped his shirt off him and made her way down to one of his nipples. Tauntingly, she sucked on it with her lips as her teeth gently bore down lightly on it. Her tongue once again goaded him, and Tom could not help but moan from the pain and pleasure she was inflicting on him. He was not sure if he was glad or disappointed when she let go and slid her tongue across his chest to the other nipple, performing the same act on it.

Tom was lost in her passion for him as he raised his chest closer to her. He could feel his erection getting harder by the second. His pants tightened and felt as though they would burst if he did not get them off soon.

As though she were reading his mind, she slid down between his legs and released his throbbing manhood. Without pausing, she vigorously attacked it with her mouth, only this time she was careful not to involve her teeth. Her mouth and tongue ran up and down his penis as she kneaded his testicles with her hand.

Tom felt he was about to explode, but B’Elanna would not heed his warnings before he erupted. She just accepted his warm molten juices into her mouth and fed on them as she had his neck. He gave a sigh of satisfaction as his body became limp once more.

“I thought you needed me,” Tom said breathlessly.

“I got exactly what I needed,” she purred as she cuddled up next to him.

“Doctor, the captain is infected,” Chakotay informed him as he rushed into Sickbay. “I can’t get her to Sickbay either.

“Then you may have to hunt down Vladimir.”

“What?”

“You know the story. You kill the main vampire for the others to get well.”

“Doctor, are you insane?”

“No more than the rest of the crew, except I haven’t been bitten.”

“We don’t even know if he is the cause of all of this.”

“I realize that, but I have a feeling he is.”

“What are you talking about, Doctor?”

“Vladimir Dracula. Ring a bell?”

“This man doesn’t have a last name. It’s just Vladimir.”

“Are you certain?”

“That’s what he told us. Just Vladimir,” Chakotay paused in thought for a moment. “Wait, didn’t the real Dracula behead people?”

“There are many stories, that being one of them, but I was referring to the one about vampires which says that you have to use a wooden stake to stop this insanity.”

“I think this whole ship is going insane, including you, Doctor!” Chakotay exclaimed. “Vampires, wooden stakes, dark environment, next you are going to say I need a silver bullet!”

“That’s werewolves.”

“What?”

“Werewolves,” the doctor said again. “You use silver bullets to kill werewolves. Everyone knows that.”

Chakotay threw his hands up in frustration and headed for the door as he mumbled, “This whole ship has gone crazy.”

“Well, there’s always fire and sunlight,” the doctor said as he watched Chakotay leave. “But I don’t think you want fire on the ship.”

Chakotay just shook his head as he exited out of Sickbay.
